Running Away...

Left, right
Sprinting forward he runs
For as long as he can remember
He’s been running
From situations he didn’t want to handle
From conversations he didn’t want to have
he ran from the things right in front of him
he was never able to escape
Everything always caught up
Stronger than when he left it
If only he’d dealt with it then
She’s been watching him
For as long as she’s known him
he’s been running
She tries to get him to stop
She tries to get him to slow down
Deal with things before they get bigger
She was proud when he ran to her
Away from something he’d been holding on to
Straight into her arms he ran
She caught him
Holding on to him
He was so tired
She feels the movement
He tries to push her off
Things are getting real
His instincts kick in
He needs to run again
She holds on to him
Shouting his name
Trying to break the trance
Attempting to snap him out of it
He shakes his head
Gathering himself
He’s trying to run
Away from the same love that saved him
Tears stream down his face
His body wants to run
Conditioning
But his heart won’t let him
Love
She holds him to her
Against the resistance she’ll fight
Fight for him like she always has
Her heart is tied to his
Anchoring him in place
Love keeps him here.
Oh dear.
My emotions are on fire..
